Scarlett Homecoming Conclusion – Day 2 Part 2 – May 10th, 2026
In this video, I bring Scarlett, my 2006 Honda VTX 1300C, home. The video resumes my ride northward starting near Griffin, Georiga on Georgia Highway 92 and roll through Fayetteville, Fairburn. Then through Campbellton, Georgia on Georgia Higway 154, cross the Chattahoochee River into Douglas County and Georgia Highway 166 to home.
The weather on day 2 was perfect motorcycling weather and a dramatic contrast to the weather I encountered on Day 1. I was truly grateful for the weather on Day 2.
Total Miles for Scarlett Homecoming from DeLand, Florida to Douglasville, Georgia = 486 Miles

Scarelett’s Maiden Voyage
This was Scarlett’s maiden voyage since I purchased the bike on April 28th, 2026 and starting her up and riding her from RC Hill Honda on May 9th, 2026 in DeLand, Florida. With the exception of the speed sensor issue, that fixed itself on the road and is still working, The only other issue I had with Scarlett on the trip was the throttle grip sliding off the handlebar. Every so often I would have to twist the grip back onto the throttle side handlebar. This was the first thing I fixed after I got Scarlett home by installing some new Kuryakyn 6240 Grips.

Scarlett Joins Roster with Bruce
Scarlett joins my motorcycle roster with Bruce, my 2025 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special. I plan to use Scarlett mostly for local & regional cruising and two up riding with DeAndra, my wife. Scarlett will also be used for two-up touring from time to time as Bruce is not comfortable for DeAndra. The windshield on Scarlett and is removable and will not be installed the majority of time, with the exception of touring, I will have the windshield installed.

Scarlett Upgrades & Maintenance
Since bringing Scarlett home, I have already changed the engine oil, shaft drive oil, spark plugs, and air filter. I plan to change the coolant soon as well as run wires through the center of the frame to power a Garmin Zumo XT2 and wireless phone charger.
Future upgrades & maintenance include new shocks and fork springs, fork seals, brake pads and rotors (if needed), and brake fluid change. I will outsource this work as I am no mechanic and would take me a ridiculous amount of time and possibly mess it up LOL. This probably won’t happen until later this year or early 2027.
VTX 1300C – Not VTX 1300S
I have also ordered new seats from Ultimate Seats, saddlebags from The Leatherworks to include their detachable quick mount system, and a Cobra backrest & cargo rack. RC Hill Honda (the dealership that I purchased Scarlett from) had this bike listed as a VTX 1300S and as such, I ordered all my upgrade parts for a VTX 1300S. Needless to say, I had to return the seats, backrest and cargo rack, and the saddlebags quick mount. I should have known better as I owned a 2004 & 2007 VTX 1300C in the past, though 9 years ago now.
I ordered the Paladin backrest & cargo rack compatible with The Leatherworks quick mount (their 1300s model was compatible with Cobra backrests but not for the 1300C), the correct quick mount from The Leatherworks, and the correct seats from Ultimate Seats.
So, as of today, June 15th, 2026, I am still waiting for parts to set up Scarlett how I want it.
Planned Tours With Scarlett
As mentioned above, I will use Scarlett mostly for local riding and two-up riding with DeAndra. Bruce, my 2025 Pan America, is my primary touring bike, off pavement bike (nothing intense as this is a big bike), and will also ride Bruce local as well just becuase the bike is crazy fun to ride.
We are planning a tour from Douglasville, Georgia to Knoxville, Tennessee and the North Carolina mountains, June 17th thru 20th, 2027. However, if the weather forecast is a total rainout or crazy hot (like 94 plus) we will likely drive the car instead.
At this time, the Knoxville / NC Mountains tour is the only tour planned.
