Fly In & RIde Mototcycle Trip to Bring Scarlett Home
As announced in an earlier posting, on April 28th, 2026, I purchased a new to me 2006 Honda VTX 1300S that has been named Scarlett. On the early evening of May 8th 2026, I will be flying out of Atlanta, Georgia to Orlando Florida, and then taking an Uber to my hotel in Deland, Florida. The following morning, I will pickup Scarlett from RC Hill Hona in Deland and ride Scarlett home to Douglasville, Georga.
As also stated in my Scarlett Introduction Post, Scarlett is now my thrid Honda VTX 1200, When I started riding for realish in 2015, I had a 2007 Honda VTX 1300C which I sold in October 2015 as I scuffed it up in a low side. At the time, it was easier for me to replace the bike than to repair it. In February 2016, I purchaed a 2004 Honda VTX 1300C that was named Jolene. I brought Jolene with me to my move to California from Minnesota in January 2017. Sadly, in August 2017, I had a high side crash with Jolene and she was totaled. In November 2017 I doubled down on my interest in long distance touring and purchased a 2005 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic named Dexter which was traded in for Bruce, a 2025 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special that is now my primary touring bike.
With all these bike 2 up ridiing is possible but frankly sucks with the Pan America, Scarlett will be primary for adult 2up riding and local cruising. Bruce the Pan America is primary for touring but will still see action locally as well.
Scarlett’s Homecoming Route Overview
With the exception of the portion from Deland Florida to Daytona Beach, Ironiclly, 99% of the route I just rode with Bruce, my 2025 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special, during my Florida Loop 2026 Motorcyle Tour that I completed on April 11th, 2026. During that tour, I rolled through Daytona Beach and the Ormond Loop (fantastic short route) during Day 7, April 10th, 2026. I had no idea at the time I would be back so soon, let alone on another motorcycle. 🙂
From Daytona Beach, Florida to Douglaville, Georgia the route is the exact same is my route during Florida Loop 2026.
Route Parts One and Two will both occur on the same day, May 9th, 2026. The route is brown down in two parts only due to the fact I used Google Maps to plot the route.
Total Planned Miles = 488 Miles Should be very doable but Scarlett does have that crappy stock seat, I have already ordered the Ultimate Seats Big Boy Ulitmate X seats and plan to install them in June.
Scarlett’s Homecoming Route – Part One
Part One will be the ride from Delan, Florida to Daytona Beach and yes, I am riding the Ormond Loop again (adds a “whopping” 40 miles to the trip LOL.
Total Planned Miles for Part One = 100 miles

Scarlett’s Homecoming Route – Part Two
Part Two is the exact same route I just rode on Bruce during Florida Loop 2026 (less any unforeseen detours, there have been active wildfires in North Florida and Southern Georgia).
Total Planned Miles for Part Two = 388 Miles

Gear purchased in Support of Scarlett’s Homecoming
Nelson Rigg Traveler Lite Trunk / Rack Bag

I purchased the Nelson Rigg Traveler Lite Trunk / Rack Bag. I will be using this bag as my carryon bag during the flight and will attach the luggage rack & Sissy bar on Scarlett for the ride home on May 9th.
I will be packing everything into this bag (with clothing items stuffed into helmet as permitted as well.
After the this trip, this bag will be my primary bag on Scarlett as it is the ideal size for local and some overnight regional rides. I also plan to purchase the Nelson Rigg Route 1 Destination Backrest Rack Bag for when DeAndra I tour 2up on Scarlett or if I just simply need more room. They are easy to swap on and off the bike (used a simular bag with Jolene in 2017).
Sena Powerpro phone mount with battery charger

I purchaed this phone mount with built batter charger to have my phone mounted to the handlebars and also charge the phone. I will be morphing the install to the handlebars with Rock Mount hardware as well (but bringing everything, just in case). I have a couple of Rock Mount phone mounts now (from Dexter). One is powered and the other is a non-powered mount. The problem that had to be solved for Scarlett is no currently availble USB power. I did not want to mess with this on the day I am picking up the bike. I went looking for a mount with a built in battery charger and found this. I will be using my smartphone for Google Maps navigation on the way home on this trip.
Future use for this mount will be backup / temp solution as needed for other vehicles as needed. Honestly it will spend allot of time in my part drawer, but it only cost $24.99 so no real loss here.
Going forward, I pland to use my wireless charger Rammount phonemount. Have not decided if I will be tapping into the wiring harness in the headlight or making a direct run to the battery. But I would rather take my time and configure this at my leisure at home, no way I wanted to do this in the morning when I am picking up the bike and rolling out on a nearly 500 mile run.
