Florida Loop 2026 – T Minus Two Weeks

Kickstand Up in Two Weeks – April 4th, 2026

Florida Loop 2026 is the not so clever name for my upcoming motorcycle touring trip, riding a loop of the state of Florida…. hence the name of the trip .

The trip as planned will be 8 days starting from Douglasville, Georgia to Pensacola, Florida and follow along the gulf and Florida’s west coast to the Everglades and Key West, Florida.  Then turn around and roll north following Florida’s east coast (more or less) and some interior back to Douglasville, Georgia.

Planned Miles = 2,495

Camping Nights = 5

Hotel stays = 2

Kickstand up: April 04, 2026

This will be my first touring trip with Bruce, my 2025 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special.

Bruce Final Preperations

I still have a few minor odds and ends to wrap up on Bruce (my 2025 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special) before I roll out in two weeks. Namely the re-wiring of my RLINK Security system back into the bike. I will post a separate post and video about my service fiasco at Atlanta Harley-Davidson. In preview / summary, I had to cut out power feed wires to the RLINK and will re-wire to un-switched power source. There is allot to unpack about my accessory installs that I tasked Atlanta Harley-Davidson to do, but again, more about all of that in a future post & video.

I may install a Ram Mounts mount for my HoverAir Beacon for my HoverAir X1 ProMax drone prior to the Florida Loop 2026 trip. However, there will be few, if any, opportunities where I will use the drone on this trip and if I do, likely will not need the Beacon for the drone to track me (used to allow the drone to better track my position for follow video shots while I am riding the motorcycle, slowly).

Many of the places that I will be in Florida, drones are not allowed. Where they are allowed, I will most likely just use the phone app for manual flight control. I also have the joysticks that work with the Beacon for manual flight, but again will probably end up using the phone app the most just out of convenience.

Otherwise, Bruce is ready to go touring!

Other Preperations

Almost all my riding gear, clothes, camping gear, tools, electronics, and other odds & ends are all ready and pretty much packed and staged (either in luggage panier bags or staged to be packed into top case.

The only remaining items to purchase and pack are some pharmacy items (pain meds mostly….I am getting old LOL) and Tabasco sauce to make some on the road or camp meals more edible LOL.

Again, I am pretty much ready to go. Final pack up of staged items, load the paniers (currently not loaded) and done.

Upcoming Florida Loop 2026 Posts and Videos

During the actual trip, I will likely not post too much here on the blog. Based on previous trips, I tend to do more real time posting on Facebook. However, during the tour I will be recording videos of riding and as time & weather permits record some more in depth videos about my riding gear, camp gear, and provide my overall commentary once Florida Loop 2026 has been completed..

I typically do not do not do allot of camera facetime, but I can see where this may be useful to convey more information about the trip, the bike, gear, etc. that someone may find entertaining or useful in planning their own motorcycle tours.

  1. Good Luck on your trip. My son and I did the Trans Wisconsin trip last year. Not as long as yours, but a lot of time on fire trails, atv paths, single and double track, gravel roads etc. It was a blast. It has wet my appetite for a longer solo trip across the US. I am 67 yrs old so it is a bucket list item. I’ll be following your progress.

    Keep the shiny side up!

    • Thank you. That Wisconsin trip sounds like it was a blast. I won’t be too much off pavement on this trip, maybe some down in the Everglades. I will post what I can here as time permits during the trip. Most content will be after I get back (based on my lazy history of posting realtime here lol).
