Dexter’s Last Tour – Deals Gap to Robbinsville North Carolina on US Highway 129.
The weekend touring trip of the North Carolina / Tennessee mountains was the last touring trip with Dexter, my 2005 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic. On October 4th, 2025, I put down the deposit to purchase Bruce, my 2025 Harley-Davison Pan America 1250 Special.
The final ride (excluding ride to Atlanta Harley-Davidson for trade in) was on October 10th, 2025 when DeAndra and I rode from Douglasville, GA to Newnan, GA to have lunch at Culver’s (about 67 miles round trip).
Goodbye to Dexter
On October 17th, 2025, I rode Dexter one final time 17 miles from Douglasville, GA to Atlanta Harley-Davidson where I traded in Dexter for Bruce.
I purchased Dexter in Oceanside, California November 25th 2017 with 39,966 miles on the odometer, 24 days after the birth of my son Tristan and just less than four months after I crashed Jolene, my 2004 Honda VTX 1300C in the California desert in Jacumba Hot Springs near the Desert View Tower on August 5th 2017.
At time of trade in, Dexter’s odometer read 81,512 miles. Meaning Dexter and I rolled 41,546 miles together (31,902 of said miles on second motor installed by Temecula Harley-Davidson on May 5th 2018.
Dexter was the bike I cut my teeth on for long distance touring trips and also the bike that gave me the misadventures of roadside meet & greets with tow truck drivers, good Samaritans and various Harley-Davidson service centers LOL. Dexter was an abused horse when I got him and was in pretty good shape at our departure (less the drop on Bell Mountain which snapped the brake lever off on September 14th, 2025 resulting in a fitting one last tow ride home.

Final Thoughts
As much as I loved Dexter, my 2005 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, it was time to move on to a more capable motorcycle for future planned touring trips (i.e. Alaska 2028). I am looking forward to many miles of touring, adventure (and probably some more misadventures) with Bruce, my 2025 Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special.
There may be some other older videos of Dexter not previously posted. But nothing new after October 2025.
