Day 10, the last day, of my California Loop 2018 Motorcycle Trip. In this video, I ride from Crystal Lake Camp Grounds southbound on San Gabriel Canyon Road (California Highway 39) to Azusa, CA. From Azusa, I jump onto Interstate 210 East. Not shown in the video, I rode I-210 E to CA-57 South to CA-71 South to I-15 South to Lake Elsinore, CA.
The video resumes in Lake Elsinore, CA on Central Ave (CA-74) where I ride home to my apartment complex. Sidenote, my family and I moved from Lake Elsinore, CA to Ramona, CA in October 2019 preparing for our move to Georgia in 2020 (where we still live today in 2025).
My California Loop 2018 MC Trip was my first “Long Distance” multi day motorcycle trip. In Early 2018, I did a trip to Death Valley and Beatty, NV on a weekend trip that was just over 930 miles round trip (my longest until the California Loop Trip). But it was this trip that I really got to cut my teeth on so to speak for long distance motorcycling. The planning and preparation, unplanned mishaps on the road (like dropping Dexter on a rutted fire road in the mountains north of Lake Tahoe, and riding some less than pristine roads (The Lost Coast).
This trip was a great adventure and is etched in my memory with this being my first truly long distance MC trip.
Since this trip, there has been four more long distance MC trips. More were planned but life, work, and other obligations limited these multi day trips.
1. Utah Loop 2019
2. USA West 2020
3. USA South 2020 (Move to Georgia)
4. USA Midwest 2023 (posts & videos forthcoming)
There have been a few smaller weekend trips and of course some (not as much as wanted) local riding in California & Georgia.
This trip will always hold a special place in my memories as being my first truly and adventurous MC Trip. California is a fantastic place to ride motorcycle!, I do miss California for this aspect.
