Quick Update

I still need to continue writing about my USA West 2020 motorcycle trip, I have stalled on Day 4 (video for Day 4 is posted but not the blog post). I have a good excuse for not writing though, my wife and I successfully closed on our house in Georgia on August 14th. Since then it has been a flurry of activity flying between Southern California and Atlanta, packing, planning, etc etc. Tomorrow, September 4, 2020 we are driving two of our cars from Ramona, CA to Douglasville, GA. We are breaking the trip up into three days with only two brief detours.

Drive to Georgia – Day One – September 04, 2020

I will be driving our 2012 snot green Kia Soul 5 speed car and my wife, De’Andra, will be driving our 2014 Chevy Volt. Both cars are stuffed to maximum capacity with odds and ends to be transported to our new home in Georgia. It turned out to be far less expensive to drive our cars to Georgia from California and fly back than to have them transported. The now very cheap airfare due to COVID is a major factor in that.

We will be driving almost all Interstate the entire route to consume miles as rapidly as we can. We are planning a brief detour into the Sonora Desert near Tuscon (photo opp and we have to see where the howling mouse lives).

We will be stopping for the night in Las Cruces, NM with planned mileage for the day at 693 Miles.

Drive to Georgia – Day Two – September 05, 2020

Our planned detour of the day is a short drive from Las Cruces to visit the White Sands National Park. Again, our planned stay is brief for some photographs and marvel and the sand that looks like Minnesota in winter, where I am from.

Then, it is back onto the mileage disposal unit, AKA Interstate 10 and we head east for 869 miles until our planned stop for the night in Katy, TX.

Drive to Georgia – Day Three – September 06, 2020

The planned detour for Day Three is to feed our bellys at the Jamacian Restaurant featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive Ins and Dives….Cool Runnings in Houstan, TX. I am looking forward to something hot n spicy that will burn all so good…..I will let you know the results.

After driving a planned 892 Miles for the day, we will arrive sometime in the evening at our new home with just enough time to unpack the cars and stage their contents in the basement, eat a quick dinner and crash into bed to fly back to Los Angeles Monday afternoon. I will be the next one back to the house in October when I ride Dexter (my Harley) from Ramona, CA to Douglasville, GA.

Stay tuned for some quick posts during the trip and photos.

USA South 2020 – Motorcycle Trip – Move to Georgia.

I will be creating a dedicated Blog Post for my USA South 2020 trip that will include the planned route, planned stops, and other fascinating information…..or at least somewhat interesting to me :). During the USA South Trip, I will be making some brief posts while on the road. Detailed blog posts will happen much later, I have to finish blogging about the USA West 2020 trip first :).

I expect to have more time after the dust settles a bit from the move in November and December. At this time, there are no planned long distance motorcycle trips planned for 2021 as I am doing two this year, and to recover a bit from the expense of purchasing the home and the large cross country move. I am sure however, I will be doing some riding in Georgia and some in North Carolina / Tennessee mountains which are less than 200 miles from the house.

Stay tuned…..
