Health Update:
I am healing up quite well. I can now walk nearly full stride unless I have been stuck driving in Southern California traffic for three hours, always fun. Then I have to limp a bit for a few blocks until my muscles and ligaments loosen up enough to walk near normal. I am still attending physical therapy a couple times a week and working my leg and knee when I can (that California commute thing again) at home.
I Have Two Wheels Again:
Last Saturday I test road a 2005 Harley Ultra Classic, first time on a bike since the crash on August 5th. I just scooted around on local streets near the shop in Oceanside, CA at a very pedestrian pace….I am feeling a bit rusty in only 4 months. I liked the bike and decided to move forward with purchasing it and will be riding it home (about 50 miles) this Saturday. The bike is new to me and has under 33K miles. It has some minor scratches and a rock chip in the paint on the fairing, it is lived in but I am very happy with it and is a major upgrade from my VTX. Not dissing my VTX as I loved that bike too. 🙂
Looking ahead to 2018
I was planning to try a take my first “Epic” multi-state motorcycle-camping trip from California to Minnesota to include the states of Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada. I am not planning on this trip for 2018 for many reasons to include a new job, my son Tristan being shiny new, and I am not sure I will be up to riding that long quite yet. I do however plan on exploring California pretty extensively with a few trips into Nevada and Arizona. If my health, funds, and available time all match up, I may ride up to and through Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and back to California or a variation of that planned trip. Whatever trips I do take for the remainder of 2017 and 2018, I will document those trips here. Of course, I still have not posted past rides in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa yet lol I will get around to it, it has been a very busy year and fall has been crazy busy. I am looking forward to getting back on 2’s regardless of the distance of the trip though. Stay tuned…..
